Classic Granny Square Tutorial
The granny square is one of the most iconic crochet motifs. Once you master this basic square, you can create blankets, bags, scarves, and so much more!
Materials Needed
- Worsted weight yarn in 3-4 colors
- 5mm (H/8) crochet hook
- Yarn needle
Pattern Instructions
Round 1 (Color A): Ch 4, sl st to first ch to form a ring. Ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc into ring, ch 2, *3 dc into ring, ch 2* repeat 3 more times. Sl st to top of beginning ch-3.
Round 2 (Color B): Sl st to next ch-2 corner space. Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc all in same corner space. *Ch 1, in next corner space work (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc)* repeat around.
Round 3 (Color C): Sl st to next corner space. Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in corner space. *Ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 space, ch 1, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in corner space* repeat around.

- Keep your tension consistent for even squares
